IWC Night at the Theater: Puppet Man by Andrew Black

Join the Indiana Writers Center Staff, Members, Faculty and Board for a night at the theater. Theater on the Square (627 Massachusetts Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46204) is producing Puppet Man, a full-length play by Andrew Black (Indiana Writers Center faculty member, playwriting). Our IWC night at the theater will be Friday, January 20. The play begins at 7 PM. About the play: Inmate #6627405 (“Pretty Boy”) is facing a 28-year sentence at the North Central Correctional Institute for having killed a man. His attempts to get the drugs he uses to escape his mind-numbing daily routine lead him to join a prison-based program. The program produces puppet plays to entertain children visiting their fathers at the facility. Pretty Boy hopes to find contraband in the puppet room he can exchange for drugs outside. However, his relationship to the puppets causes him to question his ideas about freedom….and his own incarceration. Inspired by true events. Meet us at the theater, and we can socialize after.
