It's passable...
Loved this bar when I was 21 or 22, but as I've matured realized that's the crowd they cater to. They've also gotten a big "straight" following, so it's always full of bachelorette parties and straight couples that see the whole thing as some kind of circus sideshow. It's gone downhill as far as the drag shows and quality of special events in the last few years. It looks nice enough in the low lighting, but could definitely use some TLC. Saturday nights are too high strung for me; if I go it's on a Friday for the main stage drag show..it's a lot more laid back. Lots of potential, but falls short.
The Best DJ and Drag Shows in Indy!!
The only place in Indy I go to dance and the drag shows are incomparable
Grab a drink, be yourself, and enjoy the show
A pretty interesting place, but pick your night. Friday night is no cover and all about the performers. My partner and I are gay, but Talbot is a club that a lot of our straight friends, especially ones in their 20s love (we're in our early 40s). Can't explain it, but one night, we took some straight guys there then we all went a straight bar to hang out. The straight guys wanted to go back to Talbot! It was Friday and there were lots of bachelorette parties in the house so maybe it was all the drunk straight women they wanted to see, but they seemed honestly entertained by the quality performances. Saturday night is diverse in a different way, with fewer straight folks, but more ethnic diversity, especially once the 9 and 11 o'clock shows are over and the dancing starts. The dance floor won't really fill up until about 11:30, but it's tons of fun when it does. I don't know if it's just because we know a lot of different ages of people, but we've always found everyone to be pretty friendly. Yeah, there's always a few clueless young guys who are desperate to be noticed by guys who look just like them and some guys are just shy, but that's pretty much true anywhere. The music thumps and the drinks are just fine. The drag performers obviously are working hard and eager to entertain. If you go a few times and are friendly, staff starts to know you. What more can you really ask of a place? I always feel happy and at home at Talbot Street.
Too uppity for me
Wannabe-NY bar, very smokey, very young, too stand-and-model. If you like drag shows, I am not a huge fan, this would be the best place to go in Indy. Too much pomp, and the nightly door charge irks me. When preppie gays ask about bars around, I send them here. I give it a "C". A lot of promise and potential, but it gives too much face.
Not fun
Its about drag and poor child wanna be freaks. If ur a professional. Steer clear. Waste of time
