One of the best bars in indianapolis at this time. great barkeeps, nice friendly people. daily events keep it interesting through the week with special events monthly from having pornstars come do a show/meet n greet to super cheap drink nights.

I was in Indy on holloween last yr. And was velling real dab at the time a guy I was to meet me did not show up, after we said he would so I just went to the 501 eagl tavern. and just stay for the party. The staf they tread me real nice and verry frindly and i enjoy my time nice pl;ace to spen your time.

The bar is kind of like a leather bear...

It may look intimidating, but it's really just a lovable softy. Love this place for the same reason I like a lot of bear bars. The guys are typically just about having a good time with little pretense. Everyone can feel comfortable here, and if you're a bear fan like me, you feel WAY comfortable. The bar staff is super friendly. The clientele is approachable and adorable. It's a bit smokey for me, but i can deal with it. Lots of fun toys upstairs to inspire the imagination. Good place to give a big midwestern man a squeeze. Careful though, midwestern boys may be mild-mannered, but they are kinky as hell.

Another reviewer compare this place as inferior to the Dallas Eagle. I used to work there and hang there. I'd rather be in the 501 any day. Such a plethora of handsome friendly men of all types, and without the bigotry I was so accustomed to in Dallas. As for the cover, it's $3 the couple of times I've gone. I can live with that. Music rocks, staff's friendly, and smokers can light up indoors. When I come ti Indy, I go to the 501.

The locals really hyped it up but this disgustingly smoke filled leather bar left me longing for the Dallas Eagle. $3 cover? For what???
